Tourist Tips

Through Lilla Edet flows the Göta River and here you can visit Sweden’s oldest lock. Work on the lock in Lilla Edet began in the 1580s after a proposal from Johan III. The old lock was completed in 1607 and is thus Sweden’s first lock. It is now covered and in 1916 it was replaced by Ström’s lock on the west side of the river.
